Salvador Jimenez, MFA Drawing ‘14
This work went on to be part of a themed exhibition, Nature / Nurture, at the Grand Rapids Art Museum during ArtPrize 2015. The museum subsequently purchased a piece from the installation for its permanent collection.
Salvador has won several awards inlcuding the West Michigan Potter’s Guild Award for best work in ceramics at the Muskegon Museum of Art, in Muskegon, MI. He also co-taught a wood-fire course, Re-Inventinig Fire, with Nathan Tonning at Ox-Bow School of Art. He is currently a resident artist at the Harvard Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard University and was recently named as a City of Boston Artist-in-Residence (a paid position).
Salvador was also one of four KCAD alumni who joined me for a three-week residency at Ceramica Artistica Prospettiva,a ceramics center in Trieste, Italy in 2014. I arranged funding for the residency through sponsorship from a local company and developed the event through my personal connections with the clay center in Trieste.
